Costs & Donations
Relate Mid Surrey is a Registered Charity and a Company Limited by Guarantee. We do not aim to make a profit from our services, but we do need to cover our costs. Each session is subsidised but as we receive no statutory funding we charge for an initial assessment and then in subsequent sessions we ask for a booking fee and a donation to help us provide our services. Please see below for suggested donations.

Please Note: The above includes the booking fee of £15, with the exception of our Young People’s Counselling service where there is no booking fee.
Advance Payment: You will be asked to pay the full fee in advance of the first appointment/ initial consultation. For all other appointments thereafter we will ask for a booking fee of £15 to secure the appointment. We accept all types of payment, except American Express.
Cancellation policy: You can cancel your appointment up to 48 hours before and any advance payment will be refunded in full. If you cancel your first appointment /initial assessment with less than 48 hours’ notice the full fee will be non refundable. For subsequent appointments the £15 booking fee is non refundable.
MIAM – The first meeting, a Mediation Information & Assessment meeting (MIAM) can be attended by both parties together or separately. In this meeting you will understand what mediation is, what you need resolved and future plans. Following this meeting you can decide if mediation is right for you. It is mandatory to attend a MIAM before you can take a case to court.

Quick Start Mediation
Quick Start Mediation is a joint appointment with a flat £180 fee per person for all levels of income which replaces the first joint mediation session if clients opt for an initial joint appointment rather than two individual MIAMs. This Quick Start session is an hour and a half and will incorporate individual time with the mediator for each party. Further joint sessions will be charged as per income. Quick start Mediation is a cost and time saving for both individuals.

Note: On average for children only cases people attend 1 meeting with may be a follow up meeting. For AIM or Property and Finance cases on average clients finish in 3 joint meetings.
YOU MUST BRING A CURRENT PAY SLIP TO THE MEETING OTHERWISE YOU WILL BE CHARGED AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL
All fees are payable no later than 5 days in advance.
If an appointment is cancelled less than 5 working days in advance total fees are non-refundable unless another appointment is made within 14 days at the time of cancellation.
