Thank you Tesco

Our project was shortlisted for a public vote in Tesco’s #BagsofHelp initiative throughout May & June and we have been awarded a grant of £2000 towards our work with young people.
Children and young people may be facing difficult times because of relationships with parents or friends. They may be struggling to accept or deal with parental separation, step families, or not seeing as much of a parent and blaming themselves for these changes or feeling angry and resentful. They may be affected by bullying, confused by gender identity or sexual orientation and feeling isolated or rejected. They may be feeling lonely. They may be self-harming or have suicidal thoughts. Whatever issues these young people are facing we want to be there to support them.
Our counselling service offers these young people a safe space to talk about their feelings, a space where they will be listened too and not judged. Over the last year 84% of the young people who have received counselling from Relate Mid Surrey said that they felt better after the counselling, with 98% saying that their relationships had improved.
We have seen many young people who have used our service change their lives around, build better relationships with their parents, concentrate at school and view their situations differently. The counselling has given them a different and much brighter perspective on their future. We are very grateful to Tesco’s for their continued support for our work with young people in our local community.
